For 2025 – 2026

Sizzling steak

Where to Start to Find
The Best Steak in Salt Lake City

If you love a great steak, Salt Lake is a fun place to eat. The question, of course, is where to find the Best Steak in Salt Lake City for 2025–2026.

How about the kind of place where you and your partner linger over a glass of wine, a perfect filet, and maybe a little dessert you swore you weren’t going to order. If you scroll through Utah restaurant reviews, the same names keep popping up.

Some are pure fine dining. Some feel more like a lively modern lounge. And some are laid-back roadhouses where the steaks are still terrific and the prices are more wallet-friendly.

From downtown Salt Lake City to the suburbs, Park City, and even Utah County, when you’re serious about steak, below are the spots I’d look at first. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list, but rather an overview.

Downtown Salt Lake City: Polished and Prime

If you’re dressing up for a special occasion or an important business meeting, start downtown.

The Capital Grille and Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar are the classic white-tablecloth choices. Both specialize in dry-aged, USDA Prime steaks, extensive wine lists, and smooth, professional service that makes the evening feel effortless from the first pour to the last bite.

A bone-in ribeye with creamed spinach and a loaded baked potato is hard to beat here. Yes, both have a full bar and talented bartenders, so that you can start with a cocktail instead of a cabernet.

Right in the heart of downtown, Ruth’s Chris Steak House adds another heavy hitter to the mix. This is the place for sizzling steaks served on 500-degree plates, rich sides like au gratin potatoes or creamed spinach, and classic steakhouse cocktails.

It has that old-school, special-occasion feel - a natural choice for anniversaries, date nights, or treating clients to a serious steak dinner. My oldest son even held his wedding here. It is an excellent place for a private event. We know this place well as … full disclosure here … we are related to the owner.

A few blocks away, STK Steakhouse brings an entirely different vibe. DJ-driven energy, sleek decor, and a menu that runs from classic New York strips to “Wagyu From Around the World.” Think shareable starters, an Aged Tomahawk to split, and sides like truffle fries or mac and cheese for true splurging.

Reservations are definitely recommended at all of these places. They’re popular before Mammoth and Jazz games, concerts, and convention nights.

These downtown spots are where you’ll find some of the best steak in Salt Lake City if you like polished service, big wine lists, and long, memorable dining experiences.

Around the Salt Lake Valley

Step away from downtown and you’ll find some local gems scattered around the Salt Lake Valley.

In Midvale, Hoof & Vine is a modern American steakhouse with house-aged cuts, creative sauces, and a strong wine program. You’ll see everything from classic ribeyes to New Zealand elk and the occasional wagyu beef special, plus fun options like “surf for your turf” add-on prawns. It’s a date-night cozy spot, the service is attentive, and reservations are wise on weekends.

On the west side, The Wild Rose in South Jordan is one of the best bets for a dressed-up steak dinner without driving into town. The menu features choice cuts of beef and fresh fish, accompanied by a robust wine list and a comprehensive cocktail selection, perfect for savoring before dinner. A medium-rare filet mignon with seasonal vegetables and a glass of red wine is simple and very satisfying here.

These are the places locals return to when they crave great food and service, but don’t want to contend with downtown parking.

The Ruby River Steakhouse offers an excellent steak experience at a more reasonable price than some. They continually garner “Best Steak” awards year after year.

Hand-cut steaks off a hot grill, big sides, warm bread, and a relaxed Western roadhouse vibe. The service is friendly and down-to-earth, making this a comfortable spot for families, groups, or a casual date night when you want a good steak without a downtown price tag.

Mountain-Town Indulgence: Park City

If your evening includes a drive up Parleys Canyon, Park City has several steakhouses that double as mini ski vacations.

Prime Steak House & Piano Bar on Main Street serves custom-aged Midwestern beef, finished in a 1,800-degree broiler and presented on a sizzling hot plate, ensuring it stays warm through the last bite. Add creamed spinach, bacon-wrapped scallops, and a good glass of red, and you’ve got the makings of a mountain-town feast.

Across town, Grub Steak has been a Park City tradition for decades, working with custom-aged Certified Angus Beef and a classic steakhouse menu. Think prime rib, baked potatoes, live music on some nights, and a relaxed Western feel – a great pick after a day on the slopes.

And yes, there is a Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Park City, also. We haven’t been to this one but we’re related to the manager here also. Whatever you’re looking for in the downtown location, I’m sure you’ll find it here.

Grilled Steak

Utah County & Value Steaks

South of the city, Ruby River Steakhouse in Provo is a Utah original, known for hand-cut, 21-day-aged steaks and a more casual, boots-and-jeans atmosphere. It’s a smart choice if you’re in Utah County and want serious beef without downtown prices.

For a lower-priced night out, locally loved barbecue spots like Goodwood Barbecue Company (Draper and Riverdale) grill up ribeyes and Delmonico steaks alongside their smoked meats, with generous portions and friendly service.

And, of course, chains like Texas Roadhouse around the valley still deliver budget-friendly, hand-cut steaks, large sides, cold beer, and margaritas – perfect for families or a casual craving.

In Summary

Wherever you land, the best steak in Salt Lake City really comes down to the evening you’re after. High-energy lounge and cocktails? Classic fine dining with linen tablecloths? A relaxed roadhouse where the grill is hot and the boots are dusty?

The good news is that, all across the Salt Lake Valley and up into the mountains, there’s no shortage of places serving serious beef, solid sides, and a drink in your hand.

All the ingredients you need for one of those memorable dining experiences you’ll talk about long after the plates are cleared.
