If you crave real mountain time without the mega-resort scene, Eagle Point Resort is a gem among Utah's ski resorts. It offers high elevation, friendly prices, and a relaxed, family-run vibe.
Perched in the Tushar Mountains, a short drive above the town of Beaver, Eagle Point spreads out over 650+ skiable acres, served by 5 lifts and 42–43 named runs with a 1,500-foot vertical drop.
The layout is smart: an “upper” mountain of wide groomers that’s perfect for cruising and learning, and a “lower” mountain. Locals call it the “steep side” with black-diamond fall lines that rip on powder days. The result is a boutique experience that still skis big.
Even though it is in southern Utah, it still benefits from Utah's reputation as having the "greatest snow on Earth." Part of the world of Utah ski resorts without the high prices of the mega-resorts.
By acreage, Eagle Point Ski Resort sits comfortably mid-pack for Utah ski areas. It is far smaller than Park City or Snowbird, bigger than a few community hills, yet its acres of terrain and smart lift network let you ski a lot of vertical with minimal waiting.
Although relatively unknown, it is a great resort.
The terrain splits above are why it works for mixed skill levels - from first turns to confident chargers. Add in the resort’s high-elevation snow and you’ve got a reliable powder and chalk factory all winter.

Eagle Point Resort is 30 minutes east of Beaver and I-15 via UT-153. It is almost 4 hours from Salt Lake City. It is 3.5 hours from Las Vegas and 2 hours from St. George - the perfect getaway.
It’s also only 7.5 hours from Southern California. It's an easy fly-and-ski option from either direction. You’ll park steps from the snow at Skyline Lodge or Canyonside Lodge, then be on the snow fast.
Tip: UT-153 climbs quickly. Check UDOT traction notices during active storms.
Eagle Point’s schedule is part of its charm. The resort opens daily during the Christmas/New Year window. Then it runs Friday–Monday through the core ski season with a Friday–Sunday cadence late season).
Translation locals love: weekday storms refresh the mountain for Friday - aka “Powder Fridays.” If you can swing a long weekend, you’ll often score soft snow with a lack of crowds and lots of laps. Check the Seasonal Schedule for the exact 2025–2026 dates as they roll out.

Two faces, one resort:
From the top, the main groomed runs let you make smooth, easy turns straight down the mountain. The trees along the sides help you see better and keep the snow from getting blown away when the weather rolls in.
After a fresh snowfall, regulars connect routes from the upper lifts to the lower ones for a long, steady, top-to-bottom run. On sunny days, start with freshly groomed snow (those neat, ridged stripes) and then try the ungroomed areas next to the trails once the sun softens the surface.
Night skiing is not every day here. This is a daytime mountain focused on quality snow and uncrowded laps.
Eagle Point Resort refreshes a terrain park with a longer line of features when conditions allow. Fun but not the central identity. The mountain itself is the playground.

This is a great hill to learn: book group or private lessons for all ages. The snow school is set up around easy approaches and quick reloads, so you spend more time sliding than standing.
Rentals are available at both base areas. Reserve on weekends and holiday periods. Families rave about how close the magic carpet and the good beginner terrain are to the lodge. Warm up with cocoa, shoot photos, and jump back out.
Eagle Point leans into simple, family-friendly pricing. Lift ticket rates are lowest when you buy in advance online.
Keep an eye on the deals stripe on the website during shoulder periods. Kids 12 & under ski free with the resort’s pass (activate online), which is a budget game-changer for families.
If you’re coming more than a few days, run the math on a season pass. Perks vary, but the unlimited days and on-hill discounts make sense fast.
You’ve got two excellent lodging styles:
1) Ski-in/ski-out in the village - The resort manages Premium Village Condos and Village Condos. Most of them are steps from Canyonside Lodge for true slopeside convenience. These units sleep up to 10 people and include Wi-Fi and kitchens. They are ideal for families or multi-couple groups who want first chair and easy lunches back at the condo.
2) In town: Beaver, Utah - Prefer brand hotels and a broader dining mix? Base in Beaver (down the hill on I-15) and make the 30-minute scenic commute. You’ll find additional cabins and vacation homes sprinkled around the area, too. (For larger groups, there are sizeable ski-in/ski-out homes in the resort listings and third-party platforms.)

What sets Eagle Point Resort apart is the lack of crowds and the feeling you’re skiing the mountains of Utah rather than a manufactured scene. Lines are short even on bluebird Saturdays thanks to the schedule and acreage.
The lift network keeps you moving, and staff lean into the welcoming atmosphere that brings families back year after year. If you like space on the hill and actual conversations in the lodge, you’ll love it here.
The slopes began life as Mount Holly/Elk Meadows, went quiet for eight years, then reopened in December 2010 as Eagle Point.
It embraced a back-to-roots philosophy: better snow, smarter ops, and a small, dedicated village. That DNA remains – steady improvements without chasing sprawl.
When the lifts pause and the summer months arrive, the resort flips to a high-country retreat with mountain biking, miles of hiking, paddleboard rentals, paintball, yoga, guided scenic hikes, and easy access to the Paiute ATV Trail network.
The resort lists 11 miles of on-resort singletrack plus access to hundreds of miles beyond. Two marquee MTB routes begin at Skyline Lodge and roll through meadows beneath 12,000-foot Mount Holly. Weddings, retreats, and events keep the village lively.
I've seen questions about Eagle Point Golf Club. There isn't one. But just 17 miles from Eagle Point Resort is the Canyon Breeze Golf Course, a tree-lined Par 34 course located down at the bottom of Beaver Canyon.
Don’t miss: In July, the iconic Crusher in the Tushar gravel race finishes at Eagle Point - fun to spectate with tacos and beverages at Skyline.

For travelers with discriminating tastes who value snow quality, elbow room, and a genuine mountain feel, Eagle Point Resort is the Southern Utah sleeper you’ll brag about later.
It’s close enough for a quick escape from Salt Lake City or Las Vegas, yet somewhat off the beaten path. That’s exactly why the snow lasts and the pace feels human.
Between Canyonside Lodge comfort, Skyline Lodge convenience, ski-in/ski-out condos, and an operations cadence built for powder days, Eagle Point delivers a high-value, low-stress winter getaway.
If your perfect week blends wide groomers, stealthy stashes, and mountain evenings with friends, a ski trip to Eagle Point Ski Resort should maybe be at the top of your shortlist.
