Poweder Skiing in Utah

What is the best ski resort in North America?  Well, readers of  OnTheSnow.com have voted “The Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort as the "Best Overall Resort in North America" as of May 2012. This award was part of the site’s Visitor’s Choice Awards.

Snowbird has Utah’s longest ski and snowboard season due to its altitude and the extreme snow conditions the resort is famous for. OnTheSnow.com is the most popular winter sports website in the world.

The site ranks resorts in five different categories: all mountain terrain, family, nightlife, overall excellence, and park and pipe. Snowbird also won the award for "The Best Terrain in The Rockies".

Snowbird is a fantastic year-round resort. It opened in December of 1971 and celebrated its 40th anniversary last year.

The resort is quite familiar with being in the spotlight. Snowbird and Alta together were named the best ski resort in North America by Outside Magazine.

You can fly in and be on the mountain the same day. Snowbird is just 29 miles from the Salt Lake City International Airport. A breathtaking experience during the summer months is to ride the Snowbird tram up to the top of Hidden Peak. It’s amazing any time of the year but we enjoy it most during the summer.

This tram ride offers spectacular views up the canyon towards Alta Ski Resort , down the canyon towards Salt Lake City, and over the top towards the Heber Valley. It takes you up 2,900 vertical feet along a 1.6 mile cable.
